Topic of the Month

Each month we will be offering tips and providing information about a range of topics linked to physical and mental health and wellbeing. If you have any suggestions or topics you would personally like us to cover, please get in touch using the wellbeing forum.

When we are anxious, the body perceives a threat and goes into 'fight or flight' mode. This means that the adrenal glands release adrenaline into our blood stream, preparing us to face the perceived threat. This can result in dry mouth, dizziness and rapid heartbeat just to name a few symptoms. Everyone experiences some levels of anxiousness throughout their lives as a response to a specific situation. Anxiety can become a more significant issue when the worries do not go away and begin to have a negative impact on our everyday lives. The effects of anxiety can be minimised through mindfulness breathing techniques.
