HOW ARE WE ENSURING ALL PUPILS ARE DOING 30 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY?

A requirement for all schools is that all pupils are participating in a minimum of 30 minutes of rigorous exercise each day. As a staff, and in consultation with the pupils, we came up with an agreed plan. All KS2 classes were already doing two hours of P.E each week (KS1 - 1.5 hours), however we had to consider the everyday element of the requirement. We had subscribed to Jump Start Jonny and some classes already used YouTube to find exercise routines so we used this as a starting point and developed the programme from there.

The daily routine for KS1 and KS2 pupils is as follows:

8:50-8:55am - Jump Start Jonny or Just Dance or Wake and Shake (5 mins)

First 5 minutes of morning break is spend running, jogging or brisk walking a track around the playground (5 mins)

12:50pm - 1:00pm - Running, jogging or brisk walking a track around the playground (10 mins)

1;00pm - 1:05pm - Jump Start Jonny or Just Dance or Wake and Shake (5 mins)

First 5 minutes of afternoon break is spend running, jogging or brisk walking a track around the playground (5 mins)

Pupils are also given a personal challenge, which is based around their individual ability. The challenge is to beat their highest number of laps completed in the time given from a previous run.
